Hopi Land
Here I am sweltering in the Arizona heat on the Hopi reservation. I'm helping a group here to run a couple of outdoor trips in the area. Tomorrow we leave on a three day hiking/climbing trip and then, after a day off, we leave for a three day river rafting trip. It's been interesting being here. It's very different from the Navajo reservation in New Mexico that I worked on. I've been treated well only because my Hopi friend goes everywhere with me. These people are just a little bit bitter. I think we would be bitter too if our people had to live on steamed corn for 1000 years! Anyway, I'm off to get all the gear together for our trip tomorrow. If you don't hear from me again, I met my demise somewhere between Jack's peak and Second Mesa!
