Happiness is Girls (and John Williams)

Aug 28, 2009 12:02

So, I have a date tonight.

Also, in a completely unrelated thread:
In response to this video (vocals by these guys , lip-synched and edited by this guy), I present:

Andrew's Top 5 John Williams Themes:
1. Jurassic Park
2. Close Enounters of the Third Kind
3. Star Wars - Main Titles
4. The Empire Strikes Back
5. Raiders of the Lost Ark - The Raider's March

Honorable Mention (no particular order):
Star Wars Ep. IV: A New Hope - The Throne Room and End Title
Back to the Future
Superman - Main Title

Unfotunately not qualifying:
Olympic Fanfare and Theme
Olympic Centennial - Summon the Heroes

I realize I've practically committed blasphemy by putting not one, but TWO themes ahead of anything from Star Wars, but the theme to Jurassic Park is almost the perfect song - poignant and introspective in parts, exciting in others, and completely all-around awesome. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is an exquisitely beautiful piece, especially the Suite. Whereas, Star Wars, after the spectacular fanfare at the beginning, kinda becomes less cool. It does, however, get impact value over the ones behind it, because when you hear the fanfare and see the scrolling text on the background of stars, it's an awesome thing. The Imperial March is just too cool to leave off, and everyone loves Indiana Jones.

Let's have YOUR lists!
