Ami the Affliction
Last night, Joe, Wally and I went to meet Sach and Suyin for dinner. We met up at Blooie's (a restaurant bar off Siglap), which was a little strange because we had two small children with us, but it turned out to be such a chill, earthy place that we felt at ease. Our conversations ran the gamut of catching up with them over their new life in Melbourne, but Suyin wanted to know something she'd never asked me about my name.
Suyin: So what does your name mean?
Me: Oh, it means Tribe of the Almighty.
Everyone: WHAT?
Me: Er, yeah. Tribe. Like a gathering of people.
Suyin: Ohh... I thought you said your name meant CRIME of the Almighty.
Joe: That's what I heard too.
Me: Oh, like God said, I SHALL INFLICT AMI UPON THE EARTH. SHAZAAAM. And I came to into existence going, "AAARGBHAAGHR!"? Yup, that's me.
