He'd spend hours rocking over his ancient typewriter, his tongue sticking out of his mouth, ( Read more... )

Thanks. I was watching some guy on a TV show type something out on an old typewriter and all of a sudden my eyes were full of tears, because I was remembering my grandad.

You should go back. It's important to know your roots!

Amizadai really isn't that hard to pronounce. It just looks complicated, and people give up after the first two syllables. They need reading lessons!

as much as all of us are filled with regrets, im sure there is so much more for us to look forward.

typewriter reminds me of my late dad (though my parents were divorced when i was young, and i actually hated my dad in my early days) i would always sit in his malaysia (cos he worked in malaysia for malaysian airlines) office and the type writer would keep me entertain through the afternoon.

now that he is dead and i didnt attend his funeral, a type writer is all i am reminded of.

Amimi, this is such a beautiful post. It made me cry. I can't write like you do about these things. I try to be sincere, but every sentence ends up being weighed down with cloying cliches. Thanks for writing this.
