draillion and death anniversaries

A hot and activity filled weekend... On Friday E. and I drove to Boston for the anniversary of my grandfather's death. In Vietnam, a death anniversary is celebrated more than a birthday so there was a big gathering and cook-out.. It wasn't a sad thing at all, just a lot of food and an altar where people made offerings to my grandfather and my uncle's father who also passed around the same time. So, lots of good Vietnamese food and I got to meet some of my mom's extended family for the first time...

Saturday was a weekend Stitch and Bitch where we got started on Christmas and holiday presents early.. I made a special crafty surprise for themoth.
After that E. and I went to see Cirque Du Soleil in Hartford!!! We saw "Draillion" and it was pretty amazing-- i felt like a little kid because of the anticipation and you're just seeing things that you've never seen up close before. My favorite parts were: the acrobats hanging and swinging from those ribbons in the air ( i have no idea what this is called), and the insane ring diving.. I got nervous during the trapeze stuff though.. I get a little freaked out with stuff like that and think people are going to fall or mess up and feel really bad.. Its that feeling I get when I watch ice-skating.. "Here comes that triple lutz! UH OH! She didn't quite make it..." But, there were no mistakes from what I could tell.. The costumes were amazing and extravagent with a Chinese Dragon theme... There was also a really cute elf girl who ran around with a fake Buddha belly-- hard to describe, but definitely my favorite costume... So, I highly recommend this show.. We got the cheap seats and the view was still perfectly fine.

Sunday we bought an air conditioner, watched too many "Trading Spaces" episodes and did some work on the spare room... Its coming along.. Right now I'm eating red seedless grapes and trying to focus on work. This evening I'm going to buy a new guitar! I am beyond excited. I'm getting a Martin 00-17. This guitar sounds amazing! I can't wait to bring it home....
