But he did neither of those and instead let the pendant remain where it had been for months, hanging nonchalantly around his neck

Dani was walking towards Axion Labs about an hour after school. This time she changed and grabbed a baseball cap. Who knows what warning Vlad gave against her now. So she had her hair hidden in the cap, appearing more boyish instead of the girlish she was last time.

She, of course, wore the Spector Deflector, key in her pocket.

She walked inside Axion to the front desk. "Hello." She said. "I have a message to Mr. Masters from a Mrs. Fenton. She said she wanted him to hear it as soon as possible." She said.

Sheila hummed as she typed. Another report for her employer. The buzzer rang and the young man from the front desk annouced that a young... child... was there to speak with Mr Masters. That alone would have been enough to earn little more than an apology from Sheila when the second part of the message caught her attention.

"Mrs Fenton? Mrs Maddie Fenton?" Sheila chewed on her lower lip. Mr Masters was reviewing some very important paperwork. But a message from Mrs Fenton... "Please send the guest up to Mr Masters' floor then. I'll go on ahead and buzz him."

It took her only as long as it took to mention a "message from Maddie" for Mr Masters to allow the... uh... young person permission to meet with him.

Dani nodded to the man behind the desk before walking to the elevator and heading up to Vlad's floor. She walked through the familiar halls to the office.

She smiled at Sheila as she motioned she could go on in. Dani stopped in front of the door, knocking on the door.

A teenager standing outside his door according to Sheila. Vlad's lips settled in a grim line as he cleared his desk of the ancient manuscripts, tucking them safely and neatly away. There were very few people it could be. "Enter!"

Dani opened the door and slipped inside, closing the door behind her. She walked forward, pulling off the cap to let her hair fall back down. "You already knew it was probably going to be me, right?" She asked.

Vlad regarded her with the vaguest of smirks. "There isn't exactly a long list of people able to gain such quick entrance to my office, fewer still using Maddie as a convenient tool." His blue eyes were cold as he studied Danielle. "What do you want?" he asked bluntly.

"I thought so." Dani said, putting on the cap backwards and looking around. "Where's Niner?" She asked.

[striking_fear]

"Shedding somewhere, no doubt," Vlad said, settling back in his chair. He gave no other response, other than the same cool stare.

"Do you have anyway to call her?" Dani asked, still looking around.

[striking_fear]

"That creature comes and goes as she very well pleases." He tilted his head slightly. "I thought you were already aware of that delightful little trait before dumping your delightful little pet in my lap."

[sairen_haria]

"Well, you've had her for a while. Not my fault you can't get her to listen to your calls." Dani said. "It's hard to take her away when I can't find her, you know."

"Hardly a need to make such a production of the matter. You are more than welcome to free me of the pest," Vlad said dryly.

[sairen_haria]

"Great. So, do you want me to wander around all the labs looking for her then and not have your security harrass me?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "Because I couldn't exactly bring anything to attract her since I'm sure you've got detectors for any sort of things like that."

[striking_fear]

He snorted in some vague species of amusement. "How did you phrase that just a moment earlier? 'Not my fault you can't get her to listen to your calls,' I believe?"

"But I don't see her regularly, do I and I didn't even have her that long." Dani said.

[striking_fear]

"And yet you thought you knew the creature well enough to entrust her to my tender care." It smiled at last, but like all his smiles towards her, it was sharp and merciless. "The cat is a nuisance, true, but far less of a nuisance than others I seem cursed to deal with." He turned away from Danielle to gaze out the window. "The next time I see your little pet I'll be certain to box it up and deliver it to the Fenton's. If you can convince it to stay, by all means. Another stray for Jack to take in."
