We don't have a problem with a woman being a genius. I think it's great that women can be portrayed as being smart, but that's not what we're seeing in Amita. She swoops in to 'save the day,' coming across as being smarter than Charlie. That was NEVER supposed to be the case.
This show was NOT originally an ensemble, and it WASN'T a show about relationships. It was a show about Don using Charlie's UNIQUE and GENIUS mathematical skills to help him solve difficult cases. That was the premise of the show, but if Amita is supposed to be smarter than Charlie, then why is Charlie there in the first place? Why not have the new premise of the show be 'An FBI agent recruits his brother's genius GIRLFRIEND to help solve cases?'
A lot of people watched this show because it was about Don and Charlie. I don't mind the occasional insight into other characters, but this show was to focus on Don and Charlie, not their relationships or anything like that. This is Numb3rs, not Moonlighting with math thrown in for the heck of it.
