So... since last update. Got to finally, FINALLY see my guard girls again the weekend before last, which was absolutely amazing. I didn't realize how much I had missed teaching them until I was back in the gym again. Granted we only got to stay for the practice so we couldn't see them perform their last show, but it was enough to be around them again. Especially the JV girls. I walked into the gym and got attacked with hugs, and then was immediately handed another one of those damn personal relations babies by one of my girls... it was just like things were all winter long. Ugh, I love teaching them so much. I miss them. :(
The rest of the weekend consisted of Brigs practice. (PS. definitely got the sabre/dancer spot I was dying to have :D :D) Spent most of the time learning drill in a parking lot that wasn't big enough, so some of our spots were in the trees. And Sunday we were out in the pouring rain. My love of drum corps has kicked in again already.
Last week was the last week of classes, which couldn't have come soon enough. While I will miss the people in some of my classes and the amazing wardrobe productions provided by my Children's Lit professor, I can't say I'm going to miss anything more than that. This is the first and last time I will ever take 3 English courses plus a math and a science in one semester. Me=dumb.
Last weekend consisted of going home on Friday to pick up a bunch of stuff for the Del Sarte show on Sunday. I went shopping and of course managed to buy way more than I had originally intended. I'm such a clothing whore. ::is embarrassed:: Saturday morning was my friend Jessi's wedding, which was really nice. It was small, but she looked gorgeous. Stayed long enough to offer my congratulations and talk for a few minutes before running home, changing/getting last minute stuff/packing the car and then driving back to Oswego. I managed to just make it in time for the Act 2 dress rehearsal, which was good. We were there working on the dances till around 4:30, and then had to come back to Hart to practice Risi's dance again because we had messed up so badly in the beginning. We were all just so dead from the practice that I don't think any of us cared by the time we left. I came back to the room and bummed around for a bit before Lynette and I decided we wanted to take advantage of the car and go out to dinner. We had quite the enjoyable time at Ruby Tuesday's (so much better than dining hall food)then came back here, hung out and watched Bridget Jones' Diary. Being the retard that I am, I forgot to finish my shirt for Risi's dance, so at 2 am I was up painting my ghetto name onto the back of my shirt (Lafawnduh being the winning name, thanks to my oh-so-smart roommate. Thank you Napoleon Dynomite.) Got up around 8am for the full dress rehearsal of the show. Despite how early it was I actually cared the second time around and put the extra effort into the dances. We got out early, so I ran over to Price Chopper with Heather to pick up a rose for Vicki and some flowers for Heather's mom, then came back here and made myself presentable looking. Went out to eat with my family at Canale's and then came back here and grabbed everything I needed for the show. Got to the theatre and did my hair and make-up and then hung out with the girls backstage until it was time for the show to start. Everything went absolutely amazing. We had a fabulous show and I couldn't have had any more fun if I tried. :D After the show we packed everything up and I went out and found my family. Brought my aunts and grandpa up to see my room and we gave my mom her flowers for Mother's Day. Overall it was an amazing weekend. Dancing on stage here never fails to make me happy, because it reminds me of being back in my studio. I love the girls I dance with so much, because I finally feel completely comfortable around some people here. Thanks for the great weekend ladies. You're the best. <3<3<3
And now its finals week, which is sad in a way. Call me crazy, but spring semester finals week is always my favorite time up here. Outside of the stress surrounding finals themselves, everything is so laid back. The weather has been absolutely perfect (especially today) and I can actually get everything done at my own pace instead of having to rush to meet some professor's deadlines. It's nice to have the independence of being up here, away from my family, without the constant need to get something done. I've gotten to study outside, visit Vicki and I get to have lunch with my cw and Cait tomorrow. Things are so nice this week that part of me doesn't feel like going back...
