A light! At the end of the tunnel! Maybe...

Hi guys! It's possible I had The Plague v. 6.4, the snotty years. The problem I have with head/chest colds is that I can't take most OTC medications that help clear that shit up, congestion is a little like pain, if you keep it at bay, it clears up faster. Unfortunately my only real line of defense is afrin and a netipot and I've sort of been waiting for this perfect storm to happen ever since I started taking some of my current meds. That is, a cold that quickly rolls into a sinus infection and I have a history of drug resistant sinus infections probably stemming back from my history of tonsilities that my supremely crotchety pediatrition prescribed antibiotics for at the drop of a hat. (Things I learned when my tonsils were removed, the sinuses and the tonsils are different parts of the same system!)

So anyhoo, I got knocked on my ass for 10 days and realized that even though the snot had receaded I was still too tired for words (like that pregnant woman who puts the cereal in teh fridge and the milk in the cabinet, I managed to write a check and leave my checkbook on the counter, etc.) and my face was kinda heavy and sore. My history with antibiotics mean that my appetite gets zero'd (eating is very important b/c of the number of drugs I take regularly), active nausea is inevitable and I remain knocked off my ass as they work their way through my system. It was nap city at my place this week and the cat has been very excited about it, you know, in sort of a flopped, slinky sort of way.

Meanwhile, I am hopelessly behind on work because for a while there I couldn't even talk over the phone and then I didn't have enough brains to do much with the conversations I could eventually have. So my opening date is officially Dec 15 now. And as long as I can get about 3 faxes off tomorrow, I'm officially calling it. December 15. If anyone wants to be on the mailinglist (going online tomorrow) to know when I can start booking clients just PM me. The office is in Queens, a 10 minute walk from subways, the LIRR and has plenty of parking nearby.

The last of the ordering (save time warner and a good router, suggestions welcome) has been done. Have arranged lots of freight deliveries. The office and consultation areas are slowly coming around and I've come down to being okay with not having everything perfect before I start up. The retail corner, by definition and practicality, won't be the way I want it for a while and neither will the waiting area, the back office or the consultation room, but they can be open for business while it happens. It might entice people to come regularly, just to see what's new.

Tonight's project is finalizing the framework of the website and making some workable todolists and then piling the paperwork up for doing, signing and faxing. Then to start writing up some literature and menu thingues.

December 15. Right. I can do this. *rolls shoulders* I'm pretty impressed that my blood pressure has returned to '..are you sure you're not a zombie?' levels before I've managed to open up. Remeber, PM me (LJ or DW) if you want on the mailing list and there will be opening discounts and surprises, we will be selling Gift Certificates and there is an entire men's line/section coming in. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors!

I'll be over here, not in the fetal position.

Anyone out there interested in a post going into more detail about opening a business, etc? My partner has been either vacationing or miserable with The Plague v 3.5 (fevers and dumb) so I haven't had anyone to talk about it with in a while. *flails*
