iTunes, you creepy creepy program you.

Dear iTunes makers,

I admit it, I only use the program because I own an iPod, however I am not above admitting as a basic player, it's pretty nifty. The controls are obvious the ogranization WITHIN THE PROGRAM isn't bad, etc.

Here's my problem, I like to, oh, I don't know, occassionally deal with my music files directly, silly me, I know. The problem is that iTunes has no recourse for things like broadway shows who have various singers, depending on the track, listed as the artists. This means that if I LET iTunes organize my library or if I import the folder from another location instead of moving it by hand into the directory where my library sits (which has been redirected to where all my songs originall sat, thankyouverymuch) I end up with around 12 to 15 folders of various artists all with a SUBFOLDER with the name of the show. And then I have to reorganize it into one folder, delete it from my library and reimport it.

This is not a thing that makes me happy. It also happens when downloading things from the iTunes music store by the way.

What would I like? A recourse to organize my files within the program itself. So that if I choose to organize my music, which I like to do from time to time because I have a fuck load of it, I don't have to repoint iTunes to every single file I touched, even just to rename the folder. Also, options before it goes and willy nilly files and renames things.

I'm sorry, but I like my broadway in a seperate folder from my classical which is in a seperate folder from my Movie Soundtracks, etc.

Also, have i mentioned that I like to deal with my music seperately from iTunes once in a while. It's not my default player, but it's organization technique makes it harder to deal with other more ideal players such as winamp.

I am aware that I have made my choices, etc, but I'd really like to see some of this in future updates, instead lots of new doohickies that involve new versions of iPod that I will not be spending money on in the near future.

In conclusion, nifty program on the surface, needs work underneath. I don't like the lack of control it seems to think the user needs.

Try better next time guys,
Me

p.s. That's not to say all of this can't be added as an OPTION, just like "Let iTunes organize my music" so that if you're perfectly fine with what it does right now and don't need to deal with the files directly, no need to worry yourself.

frothy rage
