Soooo...I was on the phone the entire time I watched this. And just a wee bit drunk, because I finally gave up on looking for an occasion to drink a whiskey-brewed porter I've been saving and it's like 16% alcohol and my four of the evening, so. But seeing as it was about 87% singing and pointless, I don't think I missed too much. And I'm still on the phone and still drunk, so I blame all typos on that.
1. Things I liked: Mike Chang being Santa, dancing with kids, being extremely attractive, etc etc. Santana and Brittany holding hands, even if I'm convinced that that's all we're ever going to see of them. QUINN. Sue. Nice guy Sam, even if I kind of miss shirtless stripper Sam. Finn, for the first time in ages, because I'm not even going to lie, I like Finn when he's a really good boyfriend and getting Rachel a really thoughtful gift or three (dude, the pig was totally a great gift, it was super sweet and people who are all ra-ra-vegan and ra-ra-ACLU would think that would be all over a charity gift liek that). The music, because as shit-tastic as the writing on this show is, the cast is still damn talented and even when it's a plotless mess, they sound good.
2. Things I didn't like: Artie. Duh. The fact that Will is, once again, the worst teacher in the history of ever, because any remotely decent teacher would've been "fuck PBS, you're going to the homeless shelter". Artie again. That they had Rachel singing River (even though it sounds brilliant and is one of my favorite Christmas-themed songs ever because I adore Joni Mitchell) this year instead of last year when she was actually regretting losing Finn. (Also, I really can't deal with Rachel Berry singing "loved me so naughty you left me weak in the knees", because...no. My brain still rejects the whole Finn-sex thing and she's going to stay a virgin until she turns 25/gets her first Tony.) Artie.
3. Quinn siding with Sam. I'm all for independent Quinn, but that's impossible on this show, so frankly, at this point, I'm throwing my lot in with the Quinn/Sam idea. Because, dammit, I like Sam and he's nice and he's the only other member of the club who's dealt with as much real-life shit as Quinn so he gets it (yes, I'm ignoring the rich white girl comment, because that was so OOC I can't even deal with it). And whatever, they're pretty together, and she passed up being on TV to go serve food at the soup kitchen.
4. Things I really didn't like: that they went so far out of their way to highlight selfish Rachel. Fuck that. I mean, yes, I like when Finn's a good boyfriend, but not at the expense of Rachel being a selfish bitch. Are they ever going to cut that shit out?
5. Fuck you, Artie. You can go suck a fuck for all I care about you at this point. You're a twat.
6. I need another glass of scotch because even when nothing actually happens on this show it prompts my irritation.
