[drabble] Kindergarten

“Keito, be a good boy and let go of my hand and go to your teacher.” said Mrs Okamoto softly to her 5 years old son.
Keito was biting his right thumb while his left hand still holding tightly onto his mother’s hand, never have any intention on let it go. Mrs Okamoto sighed. Her son can be so stubborn sometimes.
The teacher just smiles because she usually saw this kind of things during the first day of kindergarten when the parents send their children here. Suddenly the teacher kneeled in front of Keito and smile at her.
“Hi Okamoto-san, I’m Miss Kumiko, I will be your homeroom teacher. Now can you let go of your mother’s hand so that she can go to work?” asked the teacher politely, didn’t want to scare the chibi Keito away.
Keito then looked up towards his mother’s face, his mother smiles and slowly Keito let go of his mother’s hand. Then he turned to look at his teacher. He saw her extended her hand, waiting for Keito to reach her hand and Keito did.
Keito bid his mother a goodbye and then followed his teacher to his class. Once the door opened, he could see toys everywhere and kids which were the same age as him too. The teacher brought him to the middle of the class.
“Kids, this is our new friend, his name is Okamoto Keito, please treat him well okay?” said the teacher with a smile.
“Okay……” that’s all they replied and then resume playing with their toys.
The teacher shook her head and took a bucket full of toys and gave it to Keito. Keito took it and nodded. He sat down and started to play with the toys. Later, he felt that someone was standing in front of him. He looked up and saw a boy.
“Hi, my name is Nakajima Yuto.” said a boy with a wide smile. “Would you mind if I play with you?” he asked.
Keito shook his head and then Yuto sat next to Keito and they started to play. Minutes changed to hours, soon it was time to say goodbye. The teacher came in and told Keito that his mother had came to pick him up.
Keito was wearing his shoes and already wanted to walk back home when he heard someone was calling his name. He turned around and it was Yuto. Yuto came running towards Keito. He planted a kiss on Keito’s cheek and showed his pinky.
“Promise me that you will play with me again tomorrow.” said Yuto.
Keito smiled and intertwined their pinky together. “I promise.”
