Total utter absolute craziness is what this week has been. In the best possible way.
I've hardly slept and my usually neat apartment is a jumble of fringe, peacock feathers, stage props, dirty coffee cups and assorted photography equipment. The floor is sticky with champagne and coffee (don't hop down the stairs from the loft with a half-full cup of cappuccino!).
I've workshopped fan dancing and taking off a satin glove like a robot or a cowboy in a wind tunnel. I've seen fantastic documentaries and a whole lot of glorious jiggling thighs. I've gotten to wear pretty dresses and enough bright red lipstick to last me a good while.
Last night I was up until 4 am, drinking bubbly at the backstage with half a King Kong, an Empire State Building, a hysterical drag queen, a couple that got engaged on-stage, a host of 20s show girls and their strict manager, among others - after having shimmied and shaked on-stage over and over again, after running up and down stage stairs and peeking at other performances from the side of the stage.
This morning (afternoon) I brunched with the manager, the half a King Kong and the Empire State Building.
It will take a while to get back to normal programming. This morning feels like vacation, but kind of empty at the same time!
