I got the same form letter as everyone else to my email this morning. Here is my reply:
While it saddens me that the SCA has come to this, I do understand that we are trying to protect children. But at some point, we also have to realize that 15 to 18 year olds are not children but young adults. Some of them are driving, going off to college and doing a host of other activities in the modern world.
However, I will stand by my earlier email. I will also state that the Pennsic site states that this was “updated July 6”, As a land agent I regularly read the Pennsic site for updates so I can pass them onto my group. While your decision may have been made in May, I believe that you have not published that decision until now.
I also know that you can never make decisions to make 100% of the people happy. I am not sure I even know you, but, today based on my beliefs about this situation, and how the information was conveyed to the general Pennsic public, you have lost some respect from me.
Also since this decision has been changed, I also recommend you get the Pennsic website updated so that all pages are consistent with the changes you make today.
Oh and yes, I signed my Modern name not my SCA name.
