AP Reading, arrival

Jun 10, 2011 21:13

I am safely in Louisville, KY. STILL farther north here than where I was born and grew up. :-)

I got all my grades done and tweaked and adjusted in the spots that needed it and verified and DONE. Except for the staff development days on the 20th and 21st (I'm in SCHOOL on the SOLSTICE...how pitiful is THAT???) I'm DONE.

Got my flight with ease, and it was quick and uneventful, though the flight attendant was annoyed that I used the bathroom when the "fasten seatbelt" light was on...but I HAD NO CHOICE DOOD.

Bus to the hotel went smoothly. As we were about to turn onto the street with my hotel, I saw a young girl from the back and, for a moment, thought it was Elf, who was home today with a temp and just feeling bad overall. This little girl had Elf's build (though she was--I think--a bit taller) and had the light blond hair with curls tied up in a bunch on the back of her head like Elf has been doing with hers.

I miss them all.

I got checked in by the Elizabeth who works here who's checked me in all 3 years I've been a reader.

The fact that I have this amazing suite (all to my self tonight...my roommate's flight got cancelled, so she's not getting here till tomorrow) with a sitting room with a sofa and chair and a desk and a huge flatscreen, a shower clearly built for 2-3 people with glass doors in a HUGE bathroom (which...only disadvantage...has no TUB), a room with our two beds and a bureau and closet and ANOTHER huge flatscreen, a HALLWAY, wonderful air conditioning, a GYM on the top floor, and room service that was the YUM (mushroom Swiss burger and peach cobbler with struesel and ice cream).

Tomorrow at 8am EDT, we will start reading and calibrating and my goal this year is 1200 essays. We'll see!!!
