Dear Secret Yuletide Writer!

Dear Secret Yuletide Writer,

Thanks for being part of this. I hope you have FUN writing this story.

As you can tell from my requests, I'm all about the female characters; I like for them to be the focus in most of what I read, but also feel that their interactions with other characters are often some of the most revealing moments. The most important aspect of all my requests is the interaction between the characters and what they learn about themselves and one another through that interaction and/or through the events of the plot, whatever it may be. In these prompts, I'm not particularly interested in any of the listed characters' romantic relationships, except as they come up in the conversation(s) or are important to the characters.

I am a complete and unapologetic canon whore; as one friend said, "I'm a canon-based life form." I like seeing how someone takes events of canon and tells a story from between the lines. I especially like slice of life stories, average, "boring," moments of people doing normal things. I like angst, I like joy, I like reflection, I like conversations, I like sad stories, hopeful stories, humor, plot, romps, dark, chicks with guns, tidily wrapped up, open-ended, lyrical in style, abrupt and realistic in style. I have a special kink for 80s standard episode trope plots (temporary disability, hostage situations, pretending-to-be-married in the suburbs, chained-together-and-running-for-their-lives, and so many hilarious others). I also have a special place in my heart for hurt-comfort...when there is the COMFORT part to balance the hurt, and where the psychological aspect is also emphasized (since it's the one I'm more interested in). I am fine with smut, but it's not my primary interest, and I only enjoy it when it's primarily character-driven rather than smut-driven. So...there is plenty of latitude for SO many things you might choose.

You're welcome to look at my fic, not all of which I am entirely pleased with, and some of my fic recs if you'd like to see what kinds of things I like, or to go off of my descriptions here.

First and foremost, I like to see "my" characters as real people in all their contradictions--strong and vulnerable, hopeful and desperate, satisfied and despairing, kind and cold, determined and indecisive, courageous and terrified--and the struggle (not always successful) that it is for them to keep the positive balanced a bit higher than the negative.

I love all of these fandoms and ideas and prompts, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you write! Thank you again in advance.

Birds of Prey (Comic)
Barbara Gordon
**Most of all what I love about Barbara Gordon is her resourcefulness, and her determination, and her all-out CUSSEDNESS. I like that she WILL DO anything she puts her (considerably awesome) mind to, no matter how "hard" or even "impossible" it is. THAT is what I would love to see, first and foremost.**
Optional Tags: Gen, Mature, Women Being Awesome (+Bonus added here: Disabled Canon Character, Female Characters)
Optional Details: I'd love to see Barbara being the one on the ground for an op, having to rely on someone else to have all the intel, and being the one DOING (and trying to be stealthy) while not being noticed. But anything with Barbara as the focus and saving the day--preferably getting out of the Clock Tower to do it--would be great. I admit I'd like it set sometime after "Hunt for Oracle" so that she and Dinah have met already, but that's up to you. Any other characters as desired or needed, and "Mature" is listed just as my max preferred rating, though I'm fine with anything below that.

Scarecrow and Mrs. King
Amanda King, Dotty West
**Most of all what I love about these two is that they REALLY came across as loving and as FAMILY and as two women who had known each other all Amanda's life. The moment that crystallizes Dotty and Amanda's relationship for me is in "The Eyes Have It" when they are eating two snacks (peanut butter on marshmallows and cereal) and swap snacks in the middle of the scene because the other one looks good: that kind of thing is what the real people I know would do with close friends/family. **So...anything that capitalizes on THAT closeness is what I love best.**
Optional Tags: PTSD, Gen, Mature (+Bonus added here: Female Characters)
Optional Details: I'd like something about how much has gone wrong/badly over the years and addressing a more significant reaction from Amanda...maybe Amanda not bouncing back from being held captive by Adi Birol...and Dotty noticing. (Any other characters as desired or needed, and "Mature" is listed just as my max preferred rating, though I'm fine with anything below that.)

Probe (TV)
Austin James, Mickey Castle
**I love the 80s/early 90s CHEESE and BANTER of these two. I love that they're both smart, in different ways, and play off of each other. I love that it's FUN. I love that it's silly and smart and light and goofy and that Mickey won Austin over by being awesome and creative in her own right--especially when frustrated.**
Optional Tags: Gen, Mature, Women Being Awesome
Optional Details: Austin and Mickey in a classic TV-trope cliche: pretending to be married in the suburbs OR temporarily blind OR The Hostage Situation OR chained together and running for their lives! 80s Story Dice! Yay! (Any other characters as desired or needed, and "Mature" is listed just as my max preferred rating, though I'm fine with anything below that.)

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Sarah Connor, James Ellison, Savannah Weaver, Derek Reese
**First and foremost, I LOVE SARAH. I would be happy with a story just about HER (and the other three are also awesome, but not necessary except as it fits the story...and others can be used as it fits the SARAH story). I love that Sarah has done and learned and become things she never could have imagined because she is SO DETERMINED. I love that she presses forward no matter what. So anything that addresses her determination in the face of anything and everything, at any point in the entire T1-T2-SCC portion of the franchise (or after what has been seen in those) would be awesome.**
Optional Tags: Gen, Mature, Women Being Awesome (+Bonus added here: PTSD, Female Characters)
Optional Details: Sarah maintains such a careful balance between mother and commander with John, a fragile balance between sanity and madness, and a less-stable balance between determination and obsession. I'd like to see a story where she and Ellison, possibly after "Born to Run," come to an understanding about this in the course of something they are working on together. I've included Savannah because you may need her or wish to use her...but she's not a requirement, nor is Ellison, though I ADORE him. I'm also fascinated by the clash between Ellison's faith and fresh view on this war and Sarah's cynicism and exhaustion and resignation while continuing to fight something I believe she, by this time, believes in her gut is futile. (Any other characters as desired or needed, and "Mature" is listed just as my max preferred rating, though I'm fine with explicit if the story needs that, and I'm fine with anything below that.)

yuletide, santa letter
