Goodbye, health care...

Massachusetts...WTF?

Seriously. We NEED health care in this country. I grew up without it. MILLIONS of people are without it...MILLIONS more are without sufficient health care.

We have proof that it works: Germany, England, Canada, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland...all places that are looking AWFULLY good to live, STILL.

Hell, we have proof that it works here. It's called Medicare and Medicaid.

I want to see people caring for EVERYONE--everyone in their city, in their state, in their country, on their planet.

Health, food, clothing, shelter, dignity...these are not just for the privileged or people who were born to money or people who got lucky or people who believe like they're "supposed to" or love whom they're "supposed to" or have the skin color or culture or ideas they're "supposed to" according to whomever.

They're FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS.

I am furious that this is even up for DEBATE...and even more angry that anyone can joke about it.

I'm not even going to start for now on how angry I am at having discovered (yeah, I'm really REALLY slow) that the word "immigration" as currently used in this country apparently doesn't mean the various waves of people from all over the world who've moved either to here or from here to another nation with the intent to settle and live there. Apparently it means those "damned dirty illegal Mexicans" who all ought to be sent packing and how dare "they" speak anything in addition to English.

On both the accounts above, I am furious and offended on behalf of SO MANY people I know and respect and admire and who are left with no recourse due to the insular and intolerant and self-righteous pomposity of people who think that OTHERS shouldn't have human rights.

anger, politics, health care
