Dear Secret Yuletide Writer!

Dear Secret Yuletide Writer,

Thanks for being part of this. I hope you have FUN writing this story.

As you can tell from my requests, I'm all about the female characters; I like for them to be the focus in most of what I read, but also feel that their interactions with other characters are often some of the most revealing moments. The most important aspect of all my requests is the interaction between the characters and what they learn about themselves and one another through that interaction and/or through the events of the plot, whatever it may be. In these prompts, I'm not particularly interested in any of the listed characters' romantic relationships, except as they come up in the conversation(s). I admit I ship Brigatti and Gary to an extent...but am not married to the "OMGtheymustbetogether," and I have a kind of sense that Sarah/Chuck is both inevitable and impossible so, mention of (canon) relationships (where applicable), are welcome to be part of the conversation/story.

I am a complete and unapologetic canon whore; as one friend said, "I'm a canon-based life form." I like seeing how someone takes events of canon and tells a story from between the lines. I especially like slice of life stories, average, "boring," moments of people doing normal things. I like angst, I like joy, I like reflection, I like conversations, I like sad stories, hopeful stories, humor, plot, dark, tidily wrapped up, open-ended, lyrical in style, abrupt and realistic in style. You're welcome to look at my fic, not all of which I am entirely pleased with, and some of my fic recs if you'd like to see what kinds of things I like, or to go off of my descriptions here.

First and foremost, I like to see "my" characters as real people in all their contradictions--strong and vulnerable, hopeful and desperate, satisfied and despairing, kind and cold, determined and indecisive, courageous and terrified--and the struggle (not always successful) that it is for them to keep the positive balanced a bit higher than the negative.

I love all of these fandoms and ideas and prompts, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you write! Thank you again in advance.

And, in the interests of completism, the prompts themselves:
Early Edition
Lois Hobson, Toni Brigatti
I would love to have a Brigatti story, period, with or without Lois. Her prickliness and determination, her short temper, her marshmallow center that she hides so thoroughly.we got relatively little beyond that characterization, but I so enjoy watching her. That said, I'd also love to see interaction between Brigatti and Gary's mom, whether Brigatti knows about the paper or not. (I LOVE Brigatti...her competence, her prickliness, her honesty, her integrity, the way she's annoyed at Gary because things don't add up...)

Chuck
Sarah Walker
I would like to see one of the Bartowskis (or Awesome) recognize Sarah's loneliness.and get through her shields and feelings of being outside, even if just a bit. She is so often so heartbroken at seeing the love that they have and its simplicity (in ways) for them since for her love and relationships have never been so open or honest or sincere.

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Sarah Connor, James Ellison, Savannah Weaver
Sarah maintains such a careful balance between mother and commander with John, a fragile balance between sanity and madness, and a less-stable balance between determination and obsession. I'd like to see a story where she and Ellison, possibly after "Born to Run," come to an understanding about this in the course of something they are working on together. I've included Savannah because you may need her or wish to use her...but she's not a requirement, nor is Ellison, though I ADORE him. I'm also fascinated by the clash between Ellison's faith and fresh view on this war and Sarah's cynicism and exhaustion and resignation while continuing to fight something I believe she, by this time, believes in her gut is futile.

Forever Knight
Natalie Lambert, Janette DuCharme
Natalie and Janette have far more in common than just Nick. They both have pasts of loss and abusive family dysfunction and personal sacrifice and putting on happy faces to pretend everything is fine. I'd like to see them interact out of necessity and perhaps bond a bit over or recognize and come to a respect (even grudging) for those shared experiences. I'd prefer not romance or relationship fic.

yuletide, santa letter
