I hate hormones. I've been hot and sweaty and red-faced and just WARM for several days...even when the temperature, objectively, has been quite nice.
Also, I STILL have no working computer although it's been SINCE SEPTEMBER FIFTH. Husband has run several virus checks from bootable CDs, all with no positive outcome. He ordered the recovery disk for the laptop last Wednesday. I finally called them Thursday this week to say "WHERE THE HELL IS IT????" They said the card had been rejected (NOT POSSIBLE; I've been WATCHING my account!!!!)...and they had a correct PHONE and EMAIL contact...and didn't tell us the order was cancelled and so I went into Consumer!Bitch mode and told them that, NO, I would NOT wait 7-10 days for it to come for free shipping and NO, I would NOT pay for the 1 or 2 day shipping as THEY had screwed it up and they WOULD be waiving the shipping fees and getting it the hell TO ME NOW TYVM.
So they did.
Once bloody Sony SENT the bloody thing and it arrived yesterday, it failed to have ANY effect in ANY mode. Husband tried all but the "complete restore and rebuild" so as not to lose data. The reason we haven't been able to back UP the data that's not yet backed up is that BLOODY SONY decided that the the bloody hard drive should, instead of being at a side port, go UNDER THE FUCKING KEYBOARD in the middle of the laptop case.
So the next task is getting the hard drive *out from under the keyboard* and backing up the data so we can do a FULL OS rebuild/restore...and if when that doesn't work, making Sony FIX THE BLOODY THING.
So while I have intermittent access via school (no LJ there...or FB...or YouTube, or torrent, etc.) and at home via Husband's computer (in competition with kids), I'm barely around. Please DO comment with links to anything RL that you'd like to share; I would like to know what's going on. I miss you guys.
The GOOD news is that I've been getting to be reasonably, have been keeping up (so far...no big papers yet) at school, have had a good first 2 weeks of teaching, and have been feeling pretty good. I've also found that caffeine (in a small morning quantity) is an excellent boost to my psych meds and really helps as that last little nudge to the anti-depressants, so, YAY!
