Anagrams, pop culture meets politics, image style

tzikeh directed me, for my first time, to FARK for a thread with an image challenge to find a topic and find four images that matched the four US pres/vp candidates. I'm VERY good at those test things of "airplane is to runway as ship is to ____" analogies. So I was really baffled by finding that I just plain COULD NOT UNDERSTAND most of these. Some because I wasn't being literal enough (who'd have EVER thought???), most because I didn't have the background knowledge.

I'm linking, though, to the ones I found particularly excellent, including the one that I think TOTALLY WINS:

Hamlet, Hamlet, boring Hamlet, ...omelette. HEEEEE!!!!

Green Lanterns!!!!

Stethoscopes

My favorite of the Doctor Who ones
Well...along with this favorite Who one *grin*

British...ah, mostly...Inspectors!

Farscape...meh

Trains...worth it for the final image

James Bonds

Jokers (and I honest-to-god love the photo of Palin; if I were her, I'd put this on my wall because it's darling...but it's also a funny combination to me in the analogy).

A M*A*S*H one I totally didn't agree with. I get that the person doing it was going with appearance, but I really thought it was going to go with personality/character things, and was quite put out that it made McCain = Col. Potter. I LIKE Col. Potter, and the "old and grumpy" just...didn't work for me. I wanted him to be Col. Flagg or possibly Frank Burns (though he could have been saved for Palin...).

So, my question to everyone is: Do you remember Colonel Flagg from M*A*S*H? If not, don't go look him up, just let me know you don't remember. If you need to see him, check out this photo of Colonel Flagg. I'm curious to see how many folks who are in my age group recognize him either by name or on sight. Also, whether you do or don't remember him, were you a regular M*A*S*H viewer (on air, in the 24-hour-a-day reruns, etc.) or no?
