[posting from Husband's desktop...which is slowly dying]

As of last weekend, the CMOS battery died in the laptop that mtgat gave me (which she had gotten 2nd hand).

Earlier this week, iingaartist's power supply (which had been becoming flaky for a couple of weeks/months) to her laptop gave up the ghost and it is now without any power.

Yesterday, after several repairs, bandaids, MacGyvering, and other attempts to keep it going, my laptop's power supply broke off internally. It has been on its last legs for a while--I dropped it (not from very high!) several times, the built-in keyboard has been shot (I've been on an external keyboard for like a year), the battery is long dead, and the power connector has been tetchy. Now it is dead and Husband is in the kitchen taking it apart because, well, why not. The soldered pin that connects the power to the computer...well, the soldered bit is bent and twisted and broken.

So, Husband and iingaartist would like to open up the pool for betting:

How long do you think amilyn will last without a functional computer?

Feel free to make bets below...and to offer suggestions on laptops that have not given you or friends or colleagues power or other problems.
