I have SO many things to write about and haven't gotten around to typing any of it up; I've been SO much enjoying just being home and being on break and RESTING.

Yuletide has been great. Great stories (recs already posted, and I've read most of what I plan to read), I've gotten lovely feedback, the stories I like have been getting lovely feedback...just ( Read more... )

(I was so uninformed that I thought mp3s were a tiny, approximately 1"-diameter CD-like thingie)

Yeah. I figured they were these cute little players with removeable disks and that's why they were "mp3 players" like "CD players" and...not so much. *grin*

Now I've got to find out how to convert a .wav file to a .wma or .mp3 file so I can have my favorite German song (currently on my hard drive) on there too.

And how to trim the Indigo Girls track with NINE MINUTES of stuff I don't want just to get to the "Philosophy of Loss" that's at the end of the 12-minute final track on the album.

And I've got to find a few more CDs of things I'd like to have that I may only have on tape...and find out how to get a few more individual songs that I like.

FUN!

I think some of the early models may have had removeable/replaceable drives, as I remember thinking this as well.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "all those shelves of CDs now fit in my hand!" It's amazingly addictive.

Dude, it so is. Right now my 30GB Zen seems like it will take FOREVER to fill, but I have a feeling I'll find a way. (Though it'll be a challenge, even with videos...)

*giggle* My cheapie flash drive that I got on a whim from the clearance rack at MicroCenter is also a low-low-low-end MP3 player. The problem was that I couldn't turn it up enough to hear non-rock-level tracks when I was on a train or airplane, which is of course when I wanted it most. So of course, I went and jumped to this. Which can hold as much music as I can see putting on it, plus a movie or two. Kinda overkill, probably. Blame Value Meal Logic (i.e., I got SO MUCH MORE for not a huge price difference). But I don't have to pick 20ish songs at a time anymore...

Lots of free/sharewares can do this. Go to CNet Downloads.

I tend to do this in Premiere because I have it, but there are programs you can download for that too.

And I've got to find a few more CDs of things I'd like to have that I may only have on tape...Or capture them from the tapes, if you don't want to ( ... )
