For
yuletide, I wrote a Murphy Brown story called
"All I Want For Christmas" for
cheapmetaphor.
I had a tremendous amount of fun writing it, especially since I asked my students for help and one girl, T.Annette.K, who used to love watching the show with her mom, came up with the plot. I modified it slightly and ran with it, and
tv_elf did the initial preview of the first chunk, as did Rache, and assured me it was on the right track.
evillittletwit helped me roll up cookie dough while we watched the few episodes I still have in my possession (and she fell in love with the show and especially Miles). She then helped supply a number of details that ended up in the story, and, when I asked what lame gift Frank and Miles should get each other, she came up with the idea, and then
mtgat came up with the narrator for it, and
dotsomething contributed the end. Annette then beta'ed it, as did
dotsomething,
mtgat, and
kirbyfest. They all contributed something tremendously valuable to the story and I am grateful and delighted.
I'm especially delighted with the lovely and generous feedback I've gotten. It's made me very happy and even more proud of the story. Yay for
yuletide, which gets me to write, which I otherwise wouldn't do--and certainly not these stories.
And one more reminder that I was the recipient of the BEST story, which is about Audrey Flankman (Catherine Disher) in Snakes and Ladders. It's totally worth reading...and leave a comment; it's a lovely story!
