1) Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
You have more energy and generosity than almost anyone I've ever met. And you're one of the best stitchers and seamstresses I've ever met. My great good fortune.
2) I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
While You Were Sleeping ...mostly because you made me go watch it and I was so depressed that I HATED it and was FURIOUS at the Good Family Happy Ending kind of thing...and only later came to see what a charming movie it was.
3) I'll pick a flavor/color of jello to wrestle with you in. (Maybe.)
I'm with you (though I'd choose black cherry jello as it's my favorite and what I wouldn't mind getting some in my mouth). I think the fact that I'm hungry right now and want junk food is your fault.
4) I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
Monitor go "bounce-bounce-bounce"!
5) I'll tell you my first memory of you.
Talking to you on the phone from the teachers' lounge at New Athens, describing our clothes and selves, meeting and immediately liking you at the Arch and getting one of the first real hugs I'd had in ages from you.
6) I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
A hummingbird...beautiful, always in motion, luminous, a joy to watch and be near.
7) I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
1 - thank you! 2 - I dragged you to that movie? Inside my head you were the one who showed it to me.... Hmm... 4 - *giggle*!! 5 - you hadn't had a "real" hug in ages before that day? Wow! I still remember thinking part-way through that evening that I was *so* glad that Rose had come along, as we were *totally* ignoring both of them and at least they had each other to keep company! 6 - a hummingbird? wow! Thank you! 7 - How on EARTH do you keep up?
I don't keep up. Not even close. I fall behind every singly day of my life. But it doesn't matter (much) because I always shift my priorities so that the important stuff has a better chance to get done. Mostly it's my house that suffers. I haven't dusted in *forever*. My brother's family dusted for me back in February, but I've barely kept up with things since then. Sometimes I short myself on sleep. But the real thing is that I draw energy from people. There have been times when I drew energy and support from others while helping you. This past weekend I drew a LOT of energy from you to help me with other things going on in my life.
For me it's all about being true to myself, living within the vision of a more perfect world. Creating the world I want to live within, which means helping others, asking for help when I need it, and doing my best every single day to make the world a better place. Some days are better than others, but I figured out a long while back that this life is about the journey. Taking what joy I can from every day. Not postponing till tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow until I reach the end of my life with regrets. THAT is a lesson I learned from my friend Deb. She had a Good life, worked HARD, took some joys from life but saved up a lot for her retirement. Had hoped for a long, leisurly retirement with time and money for all the things she'd denied herself all her life. She died of cancer without much of a chance to enjoy herself. I'll work for the future, but I'm GOING to take time to enjoy today, too.
I know I've said this before but it bears repeating. Much of who I am, the things I do, the people I love, the life I lead, I owe in large part to your friendship and the very positive influence you've had on my life. It's been less than 10 years since we met and I still mark that day at the Arch as a MAJOR turning point in my life. Everything changed that day. Changed for the better. Because I met you. Thank you. *hugehugs*

It had been a LONG time since I'd had anyone whom I could give or get a real hug from in real space.
D'you like the new icon? :-)
