Grading, yay!

Had a doctor's appointment today, so I missed my National Board meeting (can't say as I'm crushed by that). Instead of rushing over for the last half of the meeting, kirbyfest let me crash at her house. This meant I got to have a short walk (with WonderDog) and get lots of grading done.

Of the exciting is that my students have done some good work lately and the seniors seem to be taking this "do it or flunk and don't graduate" research paper seriously--they're working and paying attention and conferencing with me. It's really nice and they're being a joy to work with. (Terror seems to be a good method after all.)

I am close to having done everything that was backlogged. Then I will just have to grade the Victorian novel essays that I'll collect tomorrow, and the satirical essays that I'll get at the end of the week, and I *think* that'll be all the big stuff before grades go out next week.

All I have to do by the end of next week otherwise is to revise my Natl Brd portfolio entries, box it up, and send it off.

Such a relief it'll be to have 3rd quarter grades done, Natl Brd done, and to be out for Spring Break (which starts next Friday).

Of course, the day after SB I'll be collecting around 600 pages worth of senior research papers... *shudder*

I've been asked to come and talk on Teaching Shakespeare for the third time for the English Education Course at the university across from school and my Natl Brd mentor has asked me to come and present to her Teaching of Writing class in May. I'm feeling all loved and respected professionally. Yay, me!
