i've always considered myself to be cool, considerate teacher. i'd never give work that was horribly tough, i'd allow for re-writes, i'd willingly sit with a thick-skulled kid and explain the assignemnt and i'd give remedial classes whenever it was needed.
i guess i've changed.
often, i find myself giving pages of work over the weekend. separating a kid from the group if he is not done with his reading assignment. collecting notebooks and emptying my red pen on its pages.
i've become a mean teacher.
today is the last day before a long break. and what do i do? i give all the kids pages of work to do. pages, and pages and pages.
then again, as an ESL teacher, they need a sense of continuity.
oh poop. i'm not so mean after all.
