Oh, I loved this so, so much. I loved the way the team was so protective of John and that the reaction Leela's father had showed that drugging their guests (or anyone, really?) isn't the social norm and wow. I just loved the whole thing, really. ♥

Thank you! I mean, I know. Just-- I gotta beleive that while yes there are a few places that go completely against the grain from our ideals, there gotta be some that... don't.

Personally, I find fighting it a lot hotter than giving in anyway. *koff*

I definitely agree with you, although it seems that for the most part in the Stargate worlds we always experience the 'strange alien cultures' whose ways are not our own. (It makes me wonder if the writers are stuck in that frame of mind or if it just makes for better televison all around.)

And yes, I also think it's totally is way hotter that way. :D

True... and yet you still find certain elements in some of those worlds... like say... murder = bad. So it's not a far stretch that certain ideals that make up rape and other assualts would appear from time to time EVEN in cultures alien and different.

And of course, thanks!

Gah. Yes, this is true. *facepalm* When Im tired I tend towards blanket statements, which don't really work out well for me. :(

I tend to think those ideals will always be seen in the stargate shows (and most televisions shows) because they are television shows. At the same time those basic ideals are so ingrained that the only way we would see something where those ideals aren't recognized would be for shock value or as a way to make the heroes look more heroic. Or um...as a QM story or something along those lines where 'omg, up is down and night is day and nothing makes sense anymore! O_O'

I still look forward to the day they visit the Gadiator planet or run into some culture where Duels of Honor are fought and they get caught up in it somehow. (Although that last may have been covered in that one Firefly episode...)
