Not because I WANT to be there (not for this reason, no not at all), but because I should be there and want to grieve with my Hollins community. A wonderful professor and human being has left this plane.
JD Stahl is one of the teachers at Hollins and one of the sweetest people I've ever met. He ran an online class in Myth and Folktale that I took in 2002 and made so much fun I've never taken another online class since. He was always fascinating to talk to and I will always remember his singing along with Renee Englot's storytelling performance at a memorial for another wonderful Hollins teacher, Ann Sullivan. I saw him briefly when I visited campus a month ago, never dreaming I'd never get another chance to talk with him. Safe journey, JD.
