♥ day zero
It is their rest day, and Wooyoung is lazing down on the dorm's sofa, flicking through channels on the television while waiting for Taecyeon to make them some cup ramen. Nichkhun has some additional schedule, while Junho and Chansung is out restocking their dwindling food supplies. The hyungs has sent Chansung on the errand because it's always his fault that food is missing from their dorm and Junho just naturally follows wherever Chansung goes. It took four hour of gruelling stomach pains before Taecyeon decides he has enough, relying on his secret stash of cup ramen and fixing himself and Wooyoung some food (Junsu didn't want any - "You guys should totally lay off the instant stuff").
Wooyoung is still flicking through channels with little to no interest when a face catches his interest, and immediately his face lights up as he stops changing the channels and watches with new intent interest.
"Hyung, you went to see Jieun after Gayo Daejun? Why did you take Ong hyung and not me?" he mumbled, eyes still glued to the television. Unfortunately Taecyeon didn't respond, putting his whole concentration on pouring water on the ramen cup in front of him.
"But I personally closer to the 2AM oppas, so I guess I'll choose AM" She said on screen, naturally breaks into a small shy smile. Wooyoung tries to push the butterflies in the depths of his stomach.
"But why? Our Wooyoungie says he likes you so much" Wooyoung's face went livid as he heard Taecyeon's signature low voice. He gasps out loud as the screen cuts back into another set of celebrities, ending the segment.
"Hyung, you didn't just said that!" His voice raises, eyes snapping to his hyung in disbelief, and he feels even more annoyed when he sees that Taecyeon isn't responding to him.
"Hyung, why do you do this to me?? Hyunggggg~" he trails off, laying on the sofa and trashing around, hands and legs flailing in the air. This act of overflowing aegyo is an attempt to catch Taecyeon's attention more than anything, because really Wooyoung isn't the type to use aegyo to get his ways (not off-stage anyway)
"Aish hyung! This is so embarassing, how am I going to act when I see her?" When he realizes Taecyeon is still ignoring him, he plops himself face down on the sofa, letting the pillows drown his screams.
"Wooyoung-ah, its not that big of a deal" Taecyeon finally responds, tapping on the lid of his ramen cup with a pair of chopsticks. Wooyoung's ears perks up at the thoughts of Taecyeon finally responding to his plea.
"Just act like there's nothing wrong" He continues much too nonchalantly to Wooyoung's liking, and the younger boy is starting to feel his annoyance rising at Taecyeon's nonchalance at the whole situation. What does he mean that it's not that big of a deal? His one sentence might ruin all his chances of ever going near to her.
"Easy for you to say" Wooyoung mutters, sitting up his previous position, he sends Taecyeon the fiercest glare he could muster.
"Remind me not to tell you anything in the future!!" He huffs angrily, before standing up from the sofa and stalking off to his room with a sulk.
"Yah! Wooyoung-ah, your ramen!"
"Not eating!" His scream is immediately followed by a door slam. Taecyeon shrugs and decides that maybe its good that he gets to eat double serving of his glorious cup ramen.
"You'll thank me someday" Taecyeon mutters under his breath, stirring his cup ramen with his chopsticks.
"What's wrong with him?" Junsu, who has been eyeing the exchange from the open door of his room asked, bursting into his dialect to emphasise his confusion.
Taecyeon merely shrugs, taking a big gulp from the cup ramen he made a few minutes ago, and prances around the kitchen screaming on the top of his lungs when he realizes that he just scalded his throat. Junsu can only shake his head, rolling his eyes heavenwards like the current situation is the most normal thing in the chaotic 2PM dorm and plugging himself back into his headphones.
The chaos outside the room doesn't seem to faze Wooyoung, who is tossing and turning in his bed, feeling the heat creeping up his cheeks.
"Aish that stupid Taec hyung that could never keep his mouth shut."
Taecyeon should have known not to say that out loud for the whole nation to know, especially because she already chosen 2AM over 2PM. It's a whole different story if she had picked them over their afternoon counterparts, but she didn't and Taecyeon should have known better not to rat anything out.
Wooyoung rubs his face in annoyance. He can't believe that a secret he confided to his hyung could get unearthed that easily, and to her out of all people. If that's not bad enough, probably half of South Korea knows his secret now, and it's all because of that dorky giant who always manage to mutter all the wrong words.
"Watch it hyung, I'm gonna expose your undying love to Ha Ji Won. Someday." Wooyoung isn't normally a spiteful person, but it's time someone actually teach Taecyeon a lesson of what should be and what shouldn't be said on air.
But that would have to wait. It's merely days before he has to film his first scene with Jieun (he refuses to call her IU, because that just seems so impersonal), and he doesn't know how to act around her. He thought he had handled himself quite well during the press conference, but unlike the quarter of South Korea that is easily charmed by his smiles and ang-ang faces and dance moves and ssanti tendencies, she seems unfazed by it all. Maybe because she has seen how normal he was like when they were both just started to try their luck in this entertainment industry.
He still remembers the day when he first saw her, she was still very young, a curious wide-eyed girl with a shy innocent smile. Wooyoung was glancing from the open doors of the audition room, and when her voice came through from the room and when she said "Annyeonghaseyo, Lee Jieun imnida~", Wooyoung did a double take at her speaking voice. When she began singing, the only description that matches what he thought of her voice dwindles down to one thing, cotton candy.
and from then on, cotton candies always reminds Wooyoung of Jieun.
♥ day one
The day their first filming comes, Wooyoung still doesn't know what to say. In the corner of his eyes, he spies Taecyeon conversing with her and she responds with a lovely smile. The moment he catches his hyung's eyes, he is immediately greeted by his hyung's trademark greasy eyebrow wiggles, and at this Wooyoung could only roll his eyes and walks away from Taecyeon's line of sight.
In the end of the day, Wooyoung spent most of his energy thinking of what to say (and preventing himself from killing that beast of a man Ok Taecyeon), that he didn't notice that he hasn't said a word to Jieun. It was only when the filming wraps up that he gets to greet her with the customary "Good work! See you tomorrow" greetings, and it was only possible because Wooyoung was sent in a mission to look for Taecyeon, because apparently they are meant to be rushing to another schedule. Wooyoung found the other man happily conversing with Jieun again, it makes Wooyoung wonders if his hyung is conspiring against him.
"Hyung, why do you keep talking to her?" He asks, when Jieun is out of the earshot.
"Why?" Taecyeon repeats the question to himself, a sly smile slowly growing in the corners of his mouth.
"Well, because you won't" he finally answers, picking up his walking pace so that Wooyoung is a few steps behind him.
(This is definitely a conspiracy, Wooyoung decides.)
Then a crazy idea crosses his mind as his hands absentmindedly grazes over the lollipop in his jacket pocket. So he yells to Taecyeon to wait in the van because he left something important, and his hyung waves him off with his trademark grin and said he'll deal with their manager.
Wooyoung jogs to the section of the set he was at a few minutes before, and his face falls slightly seeing that the important something he left was nowhere to be seen. He turned around with a dejected expression when she catches his eyes.
"Oppa, I thought you're rushing off to another schedule" she asks in surprise, and a smile starts to grow on the corners of Wooyoung's lips that he has to pull his lips into a thin line to avoid himself acting like a hopeless fanboy.
"For you." He slips the lollipop from his jacket pocket into her half-opened palm. She stares at it for a milisecond before a beautiful smile graced her lips, and Wooyoung can't hold his smile any longer.
"Oh, thank you oppa!" She sounds surprised, but that lovely singsong voice sounds as lovely as ever, crisp as early spring air. (Yes, Wooyoung is fully aware that they are currently in the middle of Winter)
"See you tomorrow, Jieun-ah!" He said quickly when he feels his phone vibrating from his pockets (Taec hyung must not been able to hold off the manager's wrath any longer), he walks backwards and gives her a wave before turning around to jog back to their van.
Jieun-ah. Jieun-ah. Wooyoung likes the way her name rolls off so easily from his lips, it rumbles inside the walls of his mouth and rolls out like a puff of warm air. When her name leaves his lips, he feels slightly empty, but the aftereffect tastes sweet like candy in his tongue.
It's crazy, and all the way while running to the van he couldn't think of what kind of trouble he is getting himself into, but just the lovely image of her smile when she received the lollipop he gave her.
Jang Wooyoung decides that from now on he would have to carry lollipops to the set. Just because.
♥ day two
The next day of filming, it feels like he's back to square one, the awkwardness is still evident in the air that envelops them and somehow it feels even more suffocating, or maybe it's just him and his lack of experience with girls. (Wooyoung makes a mental note to ask Khun hyung for a lesson in chasing girls, on top of the daily English lessons)
But its alright, Wooyoung could handle some challange. Since Taecyeon has pushed him into the spotlight head first and without warning, all he can do is try his best to put on the best show, even if he has to keep tumbling and will end up breaking his back. Because when you're out there like fish out of the water, there is nothing else you can lose. So Wooyoung started plotting, a remark of kiss scene here, a basket of chocolates there, dance lessons here and there, and within a few filming days he can feel the younger girl laughing honestly with him, and not at him. It may sound small and insignificant, but it is a progress from the awkward silence that used to surround them, and Wooyoung was over the moon.
♥ day six
The next time she had brought lollipops for everyone on set and has given him the first one out of her bag (and she gives him two lollipops when everyone else gets only one. "please give one to Jason oppa" she said with a lovely grin), and he was brimming with a newfound happiness.
For the whole day he can't stop himself from glancing to wherever she currently is, and when she catches his eyes and sends him a smile, he could only force a smile out and tries to look another way. (The advices from Khun hyung isn't working as well as it's meant to be, he must remember to complain to his hyung once he gets to the dorm)
♥ somewhere between day eight and day nine
Wooyoung can't remember what he was doing when the news came out. He only remembers how Taecyeon came out of his room with the biggest grin and had shoved his laptop onto his lap. Wooyoung sent him a questioning look and Taecyeon just nudged to the direction of his laptop. Wooyoung skims through the articles quickly, and it wasn't until the last paragraph of the news article that his name came up.
"When asked who treated her the best on set, she replied, '2PM’s Wooyoung treats me well.'” He read out loud and side-eyed Taecyeon.
"Hyung you're not pranking me, are you?" Wooyoung asks, eyes thinning into slits almost.
"What? how can you accuse me of that! when I am this sincerely happy for you." He feigns a hurt expression, one hand clutching his chest and the other curls in front of his open mouth.
"So this is true?" Wooyoung asks again and Taecyeon nods. It takes Wooyoung a whole minute to digest Taecyeon's expression before he decides that his hyung is sincere.
Wooyoung explodes into a childish grin, while still constantly asking Taecyeon if this is real. For the whole day he couldn't stop laughing at every little thing, no matter how trivial. The members begin suspecting that Wooyoung finally has enough and his sanity is hanging by a thread, but Wooyoung could care less on what they think. All his efforts are finally paying off.
♥ day nine
However, everything changes when Seulong hyung decides to visit them on set, Jieun beams and she offers to take Seulong around the set because she finished her scenes already. For the whole day it seems like they are attached at the hip, giggling and whispering in different corners of the set. Wooyoung knows that they are close, but having to look at their closeness with his own eyes seems to make the pain doubles significantly. Taecyeon is absolutely helpful for the day, for he drags Wooyoung here and there to takes him off from shooting angry glares to nothing in particular (especially walls, because walls just don't glare back, Wooyoung mused).
It was only the day before when she thanked him sincerely for his latest dance lesson (with an extra lollipop, its his eighth one from her, and Yes, Wooyoung has been counting.) Now it seemed like everything is nothing but a hazy dream. Suddenly it feels like he's been lifted up a few feet just so he crashes down harder.
But no, Wooyoung won't let this break him, because he still has a while to go, mountains to climb and battles to fight. But he will persevere until the end. Because you just don't stop, can't stop, until you reach the top (Yes, having that line as a group cheer means that he has to embody that saying twentyfour-seven, no exceptions. Well, that's what he tells himself anyway.)
In the end of the day, his sulking was worth it because while walking to the change room he found a lollipop taped into Jason's locker. Curious, he takes it, thinking that it's one of the staff's doing. Beneath the lollipop is a note in a yellow post-it paper that says. "Jason oppa cheer up! Fighting! :) - ♥ Kim Pilsook". He looks around, expecting a staff member to come around and smack him because he's playing with props for tomorrow's shoot, but none came to reprimand for the next five minutes. Then he remembered that they shoot that lollipop scene a few days back. So he deduces that this lollipop must be from Jieun.
Lee Jieun had sneaked while Lim Seulong wasn't looking and wrote a post-it message for Jang Wooyoung, and taped a lollipop for him in front of Jason's locker. Just the thought of it makes Wooyoung feels light and airy and so happy that he feels that he is floating around fluffy pink clouds, just like cotton candy.
♥ day eleven
Wooyoung woke up with a different feeling that day, and despite the mere 5 hours sleep he gets, he feels slightly more energetic than usual. It is mostly because he knows that today he is finally scheduled a scene with Jieun. His past scenes with her has been just occasional smile or one line of dialogue, but this time it's something longer, and this time, he initiates the dialogue.
"At the audition, when I first heard your singing, I was charmed with your voice" Wooyoung delivers his line perfectly, feeling slightly nostalgic that the particular line of dialogue is something he had wanted to say to her when he first met her at the audition a few years back. He kept his gaze at her and feels her falters slightly, her face freezes with an unreadable expression.
"CUT!" The director's voice seems to startle her from her thoughts.
"Jieun-shi, are you alright? You seemed out of focus today. This is the tenth cut and you usually get it right within the first five cut." The director approaches them with worry written all over his face.
"I'm sorry, I'll do better next time" She bows slightly to the director.
"Two minutes break." The director yells, as the staffs scramble around them to retouch their makeup.
"Is something bothering you?" He asks, feeling a slight disappointment when she shakes her head wordlessly and looks another way.
In the consecutive scenes, Wooyoung makes sure that he is the one that messes up his dialogues, his expression, or just generally being distracted. He was reprimanded a few times by the director, but at least he sees that she is now feeling much more comfortable. He knows Jieun is the type of girl that tries really hard for whatever she is doing, and sometimes she takes it hard when the director isn't satisfied with her.
The next time the director yells for a break, he slips a lollipop onto her blazer pocket, a gesture which seems to lift up her mood significantly as she delivers her lines perfectly in the next few cuts.
But Wooyoung keeps making his fake mistakes, because he knew he would miss her if he manages to perfect the scene now. Because this time tomorrow he would be in Japan, and he wouldn't be able to see her for nearly a week. So he makes another fake mistake and savours the look in her face as she hits him on the arm, groaning that they have to start over again.
"Jang Wooyoung!"
He heard the director yelled, and Wooyoung braces himself when he sees the director heading towards him with a grim expression. Taking his sight away from the director, he throws her a quick smile, just because he knew that he can handle this as long as she smiles back.
And she does.
♥ somewhere between day eleven and day twelve
The few days in Japan feels like it crawls much to slow for Wooyoung's liking, and whenever they get free time (its very minimal considering their packed schedule), Wooyoung makes the effort into looking for souvenirs for her. When he finds a cellphone accessories with the shape of a lollipop, he knows then that he has found the right gift.
His only consolation from the days away from Jieun is her text messages. One day, she sent him a text message that reads "Oppa fighting! Pilsook is working diligently", and attached into it is a picture of herself doing a fist pump for him. He gloats with happiness for the whole day and no one could wipe the big grin off his face. Not Chansung snatching food off his share, not Junho constantly prodding his sides, not Junsu's incessant whining with his heavy Daegu accent, not Nichkhun's borderline from abnormal touching tendencies, and not even Taecyeon's constant teasing, there just wasn't anything that could pull Jang Wooyoung down. Not when he's gotten this far.
The whole week in Japan means that he has to endure the torture of not seeing her smile, but it was alright, Wooyoung thought, because it fuels him finally do something about his feelings.
And now all he has to do is wait until that plane brings him back to her.
♥ day twelve
The next day of filming, Wooyoung is filled with a newfound determination.
Wooyoung is lurking around searching for her when he sees her sitting on the secluded side of the set, a staff member has just given her the new revised script. Once the staff lady is gone, his gaze stays on her as she quickly flicks through the script. Wooyoung have gotten his script first, seeing he arrived at set earlier than her, and he is aware that they are scheduled for an almost-kiss scene. He remembers groaning out loud when he saw that part of the script, and is now curious as to how Jieun will react.
"Aish! Is this is it?" Jieun mumbles, the script that she was staring so intently is now neglected on her lap. She poofs her cheeks and let out the air almost immediately. Wooyoung chuckles nearby and proceeds to sit down beside her.
"Are you disappointed that all we are having is an almost-kiss?" He smirks when she slowly turns red. It was adorable.
"No- I- thatsnotit- I- well- I just-" She stutters, looking down to her hands in embarrassment.
He found her stuttering too adorable, and seeing her lips opening and closing cutely slowly becomes unbearable, so unbearable that before he knew what he is doing, he has closed up the distance between them and gave her a quick kiss on her lips, just because he can. He doesn't know where he got his confidence from, but he just know that it feels right. So right.
Her eyes grows twice its normal size and she covers her lips immediately with her fingers.
"O- Oppa-" she stutters, her eyes is full of confusion when it meets his.
"I told you, if we have no kissing scenes then I'll just have to create one myself" He smirks, stands up and ruffles her hair, skipping away quickly before she could catch the redness slowly creeping up his cheeks.
Jang Wooyoung is proud that he finally decided to do something about this fluttering feelings in his stomach. But what he is more proud of more than anything is the fact that he has stolen Jieun's first kiss.
In the corner, Jieun's lips grows into a fond smile as her eyes catches a lollipop cellphone accessory on top of her neglected script.
♥ day fifteen
The next time she brings lollipops to the set, the whole bag of sweetness was only for him, and him alone. So he deduced that soon enough the sweet girl's heart too, will be his, and his alone.
♥ and the days after that...
And from then on, hidden behind the on-screen story of Jason and Kim Pilsook, is a story of one Jang Wooyoung and Lee Jieun, only that this time it is real, and is filled to the brim with warm smiles, not enough lollipops and way too much cotton candies.
♥
A/N: I really wanted to give this up, because I'm horrible at fics that are plot and scenes based and not emotions based, and furthermore it's fluff. But I had to pull through for Yuri, so I hope you still like it no matter how much of a mess this is :) I personally think its longwinded, paced funny and just a mess in general. lol
thank you for reading ♥ hope you enjoyed that.
