I switched bank accounts to Wachovia, because it's closer to me, there's one in Nashville right down the street from Mom's house if I need to bank when I'm there, I get free direct deposit, blah blah. So, I *do* have to pay for my checks. No problem. They were supposed to be ordered the day I opened the account-- May 25th. A week later, no checks. So I call the 800 number. The checks haven't been ordered. So, they get ordered on June 2. Meanwhile, I have no access to the money in my account, can't set up my direct deposit at work until I can give them a voided check and have to carry cash everywhere. PAIN. Then, they tell me that in addition to my $16 check order, I can pay another $20 and have them sent two-day. I got my check card that same day, so I told them nope, I'd wait on the checks.
THEN I see they've charged me $23 instead of $16 for the checks. Then I got ticked off-- why should I have to pay to get something sent to me faster when they ordered them a week late? Why are they charging me MORE than they told me in the first place for the basic checks? So I emailed their customer service department. And they refunded the entire printing fee to my account.
Working in customer service has its perks-- you know that people want to keep you happy.
So, that $23 pretty much pays for my Marc Broussard ticket and a drink.
