The schoolgirls really do wear Japanese Schoolgirl Outfits. At the moment the accessory of choice is a tartan checked scarf.
Many more grown up women wear skirts than at home. Almost all above the knee, with dark tights and very high heeled skirts or boots. Crazy stockings for those who can or want to. Dark woollen coats that come down to just above the skirt. Scarf.
Mens' trousers are cut strangely- a lot tighter on the legs than I last remember at home, with a very low rise waist. This makes them all look very camp. Per capita hair mousse consumption is somewhat excessive.
Mobile phones here are larger than at home, presumably so as to fit in all the gadgetry. About 6cm by 10cm by 1.5 cm, and usually flip open. There are little QR codes on adverts and products that your phone can scan and link you to the URL of the thing coded to give you more information about it. Most phones have large collections of charms hanging from them. Everyone seems to have at least one.
