Eponine > Cosette.

Yeah, I said it.

because the constant tight shots on Hugh Jackman's falsetto (I know it wasn't a falsetto, but I like to think it was) made me kind of zone out. What worked well in a musical doesn't work quite as well for a movie.

HA. Yeah. Though I figured out why they had to sing the whole movie though: if they hadn't, they would've had to have spoken French.

I think I would have liked the movie more if it was about the student rebels that did die

And this. Admittedly, I was wondering why, if Eponine had to crush on someone male, why wasn't it rebel leader guy.

"Eponine is awesome and joins the battle for a reason that doesn't involve a man, and continues to be awesome and doesn't die," but I guess there's a reason people don't hire me to write things

Cos women get to do shit?

I did enjoy the ensemble pieces. I really liked the opener, actually, and Lovely Ladies and the poor hungry people one too.

Do You Hear the People Sing didn't quite do it for me, though it's quite nice, but it may have been because it wasn't loud/powerful enough in the cinema? (Also might just be because I fucking love this. And so anything different is wrong. *g* The pretty boy sopranos aren't the same/tempo too slow/not enough orchestra/epic One Day More reprise flourish/whingwhingewhinewhine.)

I think it was just really too long for me, alas. Enjoyed the first half, but the second just... nnh.

Little Fall of Rain I loved though. And I actually really enjoyed Russell Crowe in his role, which is apparently completely against the grain. *g*
