I Want to Believe
His fingertips brushed the small cross that lay upon the bare skin of her neck.
'So you believe?'
It took her a moment to realize what he was referring to, and even then, it there was still a moment's silence before she responded. 'I want to believe.'
He leaned in to kiss her, his right hand at her breast. They had been at loggerheads for most of the case; he'd insisted that the deaths had been the result of a zombie-like virus, while she felt that the cause had been a little more "reality-bound" as she described it. She reminded him a little of Scully when they'd first met - somewhat skeptical, but by no means stupid.
Ending up in bed with her hadn't been planned; it was a heat of the moment thing that he definitely wasn't regretting, protocol be damned. The very nature of the X-Files meant that he'd been disregarding protocol for the majority of his career.
“I want to believe” was evidently all she was going to say on the matter; he could tell she didn’t particularly want to discuss the topic.
He kissed her again, and this time she reciprocated. Her lips were still a little dry; they’d taken down their unsub with a shot to the head as the snow started to fall, the cold sucking dry any moisture that might once have been there. He’d recommended they keep their distance - if he was right, then the dead man was Patient Zero, the source of the virus. To them, though, he’d simply been a former military scientist who was more than a little disgruntled. Their theories had merit, but they didn’t describe the redness of his irises, or the rash that covered his skin.
‘Fox,’ she breathed, as his hand went from her breast, down her stomach, to her hip. He couldn’t help but smile at that.
‘Nobody calls me Fox,’ he said softly, slipping two fingers inside of her. Her hands tightened their grip on his shoulders, and she said nothing as he built up his rhythm, thumb circling her clit.
‘Oh God, Mulder.’ The words came eventually, after several minutes of soft moaning. ‘They told me you were a dedicated agent, but...God.’
‘Well there’s plenty more where that came from,’ he told her, reaching towards the nightstand for a condom.
‘Really?’ she asked, a grin slowly creeping onto her face. ‘You’ve been an incubus this entire time, and I didn’t even notice. I really should pay more attention,’ she deadpanned.
‘You really should.’ He took a hold of her hips and slid inside, revelling at the look on her face. She really was beautiful; dark hair, dark eyes, pale skin. Almost vampiric, but then, he hadn’t seen a vampire in a good long while, and she’d been out in the sun in the time that he’d known her. They called him Spooky, but he wasn’t about to stake a woman, just because she looked a little vampiric, especially when that woman was providing him with immense pleasure.
He kept up a steady pace, kissing every part of her skin within reach. Her hands wrapped around his ass, encouraging him to increase his pace. He really did miss the intensity of the BAU sometimes.
They climaxed within moments of each other, and he rolled off, not wanting to crush her. She leaned into his chest, seemingly savoring the body heat that he provided.
‘Have you ever dealt with demons?’ she asked him eventually, with the slightest hint of melancholy in her voice.
‘A few times,’ he said slowly, knowing that whatever the reason for her curiosity, he wasn’t going to help by launching into a complete history of demonology. ‘Why do you ask?’
‘No reason,’ she said, closing her eyes.
They spoke nothing more of the matter.
