Criminal Minds drabbles, Derek Morgan

Jan 06, 2009 16:27

Ratings: Pant on. Spoilers for early s2 in all three.

Title: Baby Boy
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Characters: Derek Morgan, Carl Buford
Prompt: 001, beginnings
Word count: 111
Warning: Carl Buford is a sleazy pervert, canonically. Say it with me, folks: Molesting a child is wrong. But I guess it makes for great drama. Non-explicit.

Derek's mom had to pull a double shift and his sisters had their things, jobs and musicals and whatever, so Derek played red team at the community center until dinner, when Coach Buford gave him a cheese burger and fries and a huge soda.

“Son, have you finished your homework?” Coach Buford was right next to his ear. “Get it done before your mom comes to get you at nine, and you'll get an extra special treat.”

Derek thought, Ice cream! and got his cursive worksheet done quickly, perfectly.

Coach Buford was over Derek's shoulder. “Good job, son,” he said with his hand in Derek's hair. Derek could hear him smiling.

Title: Age
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Characters: Derek Morgan, Carl Buford
Prompt: 038, touch
Word count: 203. Mama, Papa, and the two babies of the Drabble family.
Warning: Follows “Baby Boy,” a few years later. Even though it's non-explicit, I weirded myself out big time with this one.

Buford tells Derek's mom that Derek is thriving, in Buford's experienced opinion.

She would do anything for her sullen son to go back to her smiling baby boy from before his father died; she believes him. She doesn't worry about him shoving stupid Dmitri Wilvers on the court or the three game suspension he gets, because Buford tells her he can take care of it-the problem started with basketball, the basketball coach will correct it-his inattention was the cause of it in the first place, he's deeply sorry.

Derek can't so much as play H-O-R-S-E with the little kids. All he can do is his homework in Buford's office with the blinds flattened.

Buford's eyes scrutinize Derek's math worksheet before his body comes around from behind the desk and his hand settles in the hair just above Derek's ear.

“See,” Buford smiles. Derek wants to punch his fucking teeth in. “You're a good boy. You're a smart boy.” The hand goes to Derek's neck. “You're a beautiful boy. I can never be mad at you for long.”

Derek keeps staring at the pencil in his hand and does not let himself break it in his fist.

Title: Walking Wounded
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Characters: Derek Morgan, mentions Elle Greenaway gen
Prompt: 026, teammates
Word count: 100

It wasn't like Derek wasn't upset when Hotch announced that Elle tendered her resignation. It was just that he maybe expected it, a little. Maybe he even hoped for it.

(Every day she was there in the office after what that psychotic asshole did to her, Elle reminded him that heroes fall. Frequently. Every reason to ease the worry he saw on his mother's face, to give in every time Sarah and Desirèe double teamed him about quitting, he saw reflected in the way she changed.)

He knocked on her door at 7:00 the next Tuesday night. She ignored him.
