Where in the World?
I skidded to a stop in the airport lobby, knowing I was too late when I spotted the postcard tucked into a large potted plant.
The picture was of the Paris skyline, almost the same view I had passed on my way there. It had a small cellophane package attached. I opened it, and took an absent bite of the single French macaron - coffee flavored, my favorite - as I read the message.
Dear Ami,
Greetings from Paris! If you are reading this, then I’m already bound for our next adventure. Someplace warm, I think, someplace one could rest, maybe even for centuries! It’s not exactly a tourist spot, but it could be some archaeologist’s holy grail!
I’ll be waiting there - or will I?

P.S. There’s a whole box of macarons at the check-in desk for you
I grinned. Bob was headed for Petra, in Jordan, where they’d filmed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade -one of my favorite films.
There were no more flights to Jordan until the next afternoon, so I collected my pastries and went outside.
Paris hadn’t been my idea, but I was starting to like it. I found a small café and ordered a coffee to go with my macarons. I set the postcard on the table, matching it’s bright colors to the current dusk-blue skyline, then opened my satchel to stash it with the others - New York, London, Cleveland, Phoenix, San Francisco.
Despite his teasing, I knew I’d catch up with Bob in Petra. We never let the other one miss us twice in a row, and this chase would be no fun if we didn’t stop to spend time together every so often.
The world was a very big place, and I was looking forward to exploring it with my friend.
