“Agent Gibbs,” said Jimmy, soft voice loud in the empty bullpen. “I want to give this back.”
Gibbs pointedly didn’t take the small box that Jimmy held out. “No refunds, Palmer.”
“But… it’s a commendation for bravery. I didn’t earn it.”
“No?” said Gibbs. “That wasn’t you, then? Because I heard you were the one that got me out of the line of fire when I got shot, and made sure I didn’t bleed out before DiNozzo and McGee arrived.”
“I was terrified!” Jimmy protested.
Gibbs reached out and pushed the box back toward him. “Sounds like bravery to me.”
