When McGee pulled into the parking lot of his apartment building, he found a familiar hearse already out front. Abby stood in the doorway, looking hesitant.
“I let myself in,” she said. “Can I… I need to stay with you for a little while.”
“Sure,” said McGee, following her inside. “But why…?”
Abby threw her arms around him. “Someone tried to kill you, Timmy! Gibbs is… Gibbs, and Tony and Ziva aren’t here, and-”
“I know, Abs.”
“No, Tim. I’m here to make sure you’re safe.”
“Abby…”
“I can’t lose you, Timmy. I just can’t.”
He smiled. “You won’t.”
