The moment Tony and McGee appeared in the bullpen, empty-handed and dripping wet, Ducky took them straight down to autopsy with barely a passing word to Gibbs.
He bustled about, issuing them warm towels and dry scrubs, taking their temperatures, and making them each a cup of hot tea, with a continuous series of reminders about taking care of oneself and proper dress for inclement weather.
Then, suddenly, Ducky stopped.
Tony frowned, teacup halfway to his mouth. “What’s wrong, Ducky?”
The M.E. smiled. “I don’t mean to lecture, you know. I simply… worry.”
“We know,” said McGee. “And we’re grateful.”
