I just finished reading…

Title:
Artemis Fowl #8: The Last GuardianAuthor: Eoin Colfer
Genre: YA fantasy
Publishing Date: 2012
Pages: 328
Collection: my personal library
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: I’ll probably re-read the whole series now
I’ve really enjoyed this series, and I’m kind of sad that this is the last book. It got a little… weirdly spiritual at the end, but overall, I liked the way it turned out.

The Art of BraveAuthor: Jenny Lerew, John Lasseter, Mark Andrews & Brenda Chapman
Genre: non-fiction
Publishing Date: 2012
Pages: 160

Read Again?: probably use for reference
A Christmas present from my brother. I loved reading about how this movie came about, and the illustrations were all gorgeous.

Title:
Battlestar Galactica #1: Battlestar GalacticaAuthor: Glen A. Larson & Robert Thurston
Genre: science-fiction
Publishing Date: 1978
Pages: 244
Collection: my personal library (used book sale)
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: more than likely
The original Battlestar Galactica, the one from the late 70s with shiny metal Cylons. This is the novel form of the pilot movie, with added ‘excerpts’ from Adama’s journal.

Title:
Cinder and EllaAuthor: Melissa Lemon
Genre: fantasy
Publishing Date: 2011
Pages: 273
Collection: my personal library
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: nope
This was supposed to be a re-telling of Cinderella, but it just sort of… rambled off. There was a theme of each person having their own tree, but it just got weirdly convoluted. This seemed like such a great idea, so I’m really disappointed it was such a terrible book.

Title:
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Blade Runner)Author: Phillip K. Dick
Genre: science-fiction
Publishing Date: 1968 (my version, 1987)
Pages: 265
Collection: my personal library (used book sale)
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: unlikely
I feel like if I read this one in a Lit class, I’d understand it better. It’s a great book, but I just feel like I’m missing parts of it. As part of my sci-fi books-and-movies reading-and-watching, I’ve borrowed the film that’s based on this, “Blade Runner” to watch later this week.

Title:
EntwinedAuthor: Heather Dixon
Genre: YA fantasy
Publishing Date: 2011
Pages: 472
Collection: my personal library
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: sure
Another re-telling, but this one was fantastic! It’s based on the Twelve Dancing Princesses, with some great twists. Each of the twelve girls has a distinct personality (even the littlest ones) and really, all of the characters were great.

Title:
Fairy Haven #2: Fairy Haven and the Quest for the WandAuthor: Gail Carson Levine & David Christiana
Genre: fantasy
Publishing Date: 2007
Pages: 191
Collection: my personal library
Read Before?: no
Read Again?: maybe
I do enjoy this series, but I kind of feel like they’re writing for a younger audiences and they’re talking down to me a bit. That said, they are great stories, and the illustrations are beautiful.
