At least he'd gotten the book published, McGee reminded himself.
And, really, he had no idea how he'd let his agent talk him into this book signing. The adventures of Detective McGregor, who solves crime with computer programs and superior intellect, simply weren't that popular. The writing was brilliant, the first twenty-seven publishers had said, but the characters lacked realism.
The 'crowd' his agent promised turned out to be less than a dozen people.
"Who should I make this out to?" he asked automatically.
The last person in line smiled, pale skin and dark lips framed by black pigtails.
"Abby."
