“It’s inexcusable!” said Castle, gesturing vaguely but vigorously enough that he nearly overbalanced in his chair.
Beckett caught his arm, tucking her hand into his elbow like she wasn’t holding him upright. “Of course it is.”
“It’s a tragedy,” he continued. “It’s not a love story.”
“I know.”
“It’s two teenagers making bad choices until they die. Doesn’t anybody read anymore?”
“It’s a tragedy,” she agreed, moving his empty cocktail glass out of the way.
“No, it’s - yes, it’s - Inexcusable!”
“And that,” said Beckett, to herself with a laugh, “is why you don’t ask a writer about Romeo and Juliet.”
