Mycroft frowned. “Pardon?”
“When I first moved in with Sherlock, and you offered me money to spy on him.”
“Ah. Paid you, of course. It was a genuine offer.”
John smiled. “Sorry to disappoint.”
“Actually, I’m rather glad you refused,” Mycroft admitted.
“Oh?”
“Certainly. You may not approve of my methods, but my concern was - and is - for my brother’s well-being. A spy would have been useful, but a true friend is invaluable.”
John smiled. “So long as you know I’m always on his side.”
Mycroft nodded. “Understood.”
