First Contact
“Grandfather,” said Sarek, “Allow me to introduce my intended. Amanda, my father’s father, Solkar.”
Amanda had spent the day being introduced to members of her fiancé’s family, but she knew how much this meeting meant to Sarek. Solkar had been the first Vulcan ambassador to Earth, and Sarek had always looked up to him.
Carefully, she held up her hand in the ta’al and greeted him in High Vulcan.
Solkar nodded, then to her surprise, dropped his own ta’al to clasp her hand in a human handshake.
“You have chosen well, my grandson,” he said, and Amanda beamed at him.
