Daisy frowned at the food truck. “Fish tacos?”
His expression fell. “You’ve had them before? No, of course you have. Because people in this time have eaten all kinds of food, they’re not weirdos who’ve never seen popcorn or an avocado before and-”
“Hey,” Daisy interrupted, taking both of his hands. “Maybe this wasn’t exactly the surprise you thought it was, but I’m sure it’ll still be great.”
Deke smiled. “I notice you didn’t deny I’m a weirdo.”
“Oh, you’re definitely a weirdo,” she said. “But you’re my weirdo.”
“Yes, I am.”
