Gelatinous Substance
“Please explain this, Mother.”
Amanda smiled at her five-year-old’s serious tone. “It’s a sandwich, Spock,” she said, sitting across from him with another for herself. “I’ve made them before.”
“I am familiar with the structure,” said Spock. “But the contents were vegetables, not… this gelatinous substance.”
“Jelly,” said Amanda. “Strawberry jelly, and peanut butter.”
Her son eyed the sandwich warily. “How am I to eat it without getting jelly on my fingers?”
“You don’t,” she said, and took a big bite, jelly oozing out onto her plate.
Spock took a much more careful bite.
“Well?”
He nodded. “Acceptable.”
Amanda laughed.
