Lunar Learning
Usagi Tsukino was going to university.
It was still something of a surprise, despite the fact that her grades had steadily improved since middle school. Which was probably why she hadn’t stopped to consider what she would actually go to university for.
Everyone else already knew - Ami had been accepted to a prestigious pre-med program and had already begun reading her textbooks; Rei would be studying business, so she could help run her family’s shrine; Makoto was going to culinary school to learn how to manage the bakery she wanted to open; Minako was pursuing a degree in music performance, still holding onto her dream of becoming a star.
But none of those seemed right for Usagi.
She could never go to school long enough to become a doctor, and she didn’t really do well with the sight of blood. Business had too many numbers, even if she was passing math now. To date, her greatest accomplishment in the kitchen had been managing not to set anything on fire. And while she’d certainly had fantasies of being a teen pop sensation, Usagi knew she didn’t have the natural talent or determination to make a real career out of it.
So, what could she do?”
“Well,” said Ami, “I’m sure you could do anything you put your mind to. But a more important question might be: what job do you really see yourself doing for the rest of your life?”
“Oh,” said Usagi. “That’s… I know exactly what I’m going to study! Thanks, Ami-chan!”

“Political science?” said Minako, when the girls had gotten together to compare their course schedules.
“Well,” said Usagi. “I’m going to be queen of the Moon Kingdom someday, I just thought I should learn how.”
Her friends all smiled. “That’s a great idea, Usagi,” said Rei.
