I haven't been home sick in over a year. At least in this house.
Got up this morning, feeling better than yesterday, but feeling the throat starting to hurt, and the sickness creeping beneath my just-got-up good feelings. So, I decided getting my co-workers sick was a bad thing, and that there may be beatings over it. Wrote an email I thought sent with no problems, and went back to bed to keep warm and make myself sleep.
Yesterday, I was not so lucky. I got up, felt a little icky, but figured I was okay. In fact, I was kinda excited to get to work and make some money. That faded fast, especially after the hour bus ride. I got most of what I could done in the morning, feeling worse with every passing hour. I was a little down about my birthday, being sick, the news that morning, etc.
The thing that was wonderful was the fact that after lunch, I was getting birthday wishes. This was followed up by a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers from the Classifieds department, and a lovely card with varying versions of, "Screw being sick! It's your birthday, so get DRUNK!" I was so overwhelmed by happiness, I almost cried. I'm a little attention whore, so I was on a feverish cloud 9, and I was getting a lot of, "Go home! Get well!"
So I did. Caught the first 114 home. Started to feel better on the bus, after 45 minutes of staring out a window and not thinking. Went home, arranged my flowers into two vases, one in the living room, one on my dresser, and hung with the parents. We decided that going to a quick dinner wouldn't kill any of us, so we went to La Hacienda. Had a great meal, and I got sang at by the staff while wearing a giant sombrero. It was the best birthday I could have had. *grins* So thank you, everyone, for your well-wishes and outporuing of birthday love! Made what could have been a horrid day wonderful. Despite the sick.
Stacy stopped by as well last night, with a card and a bag of goodies. We sat and talked, until I had to go to bed. Topped off one of the best birthdays I've had.
So, I am now working from home, harrassing people at work from my remote web access to my email. Yay!
