On Saturday I went to see the most amazing metal band...
Iced Earth...oh yeah and I saw
Megadeth. *grin*
I first picked out
Something Wicked This Way Comes at Best Buy when I was cruising the CD aisles looking for cool cover art. Within 2 weeks I had
every Iced Earth album including the Days of Purgatory and Alive in Athens European releases. Which you can get from
Century Media.
As the lights went out I ran to the stage. I stood in front of Matt Barlow as he sang some of Iced Earth's best. John Schaffer, arguably a God of lyric and song, wailed on his guitar inches in front of my face.
After Megadeth got done with their set I went out to the tour buses and proceeded to get my Alive in Athens box signed by:
Matt - lead singer
Jamie - bass
Richard - drums
Larry - supporting lead guitar
I waited with Amanda and Paul, two people I did not know, until 4 in the morning, for John to come out of the theatre. He has family in Indiana and was chatting with them before the band took off again. When the bus didn't leave at the scheduled 3 AM we waited, and waited...finally deciding that our beloved John was sleeping.
Amanda got handed the bass drum head by Richard. That was so cool. You can check out her site at
EverythingRockNRoll.com. She will have a review of this concert up in short order.
