PowerBook G4

I just got a 12in. Powerbook the other day. Right now I am downloading Mandrake PPC *.iso's to put Linux on this thing and get it dual booting with OS X.

I wanted to put Gentoo on it for several reasons.

1. Geek factor - bootstrapping my own system from a stage 1 install and having all the programs compiled to my specific hardware and specs for peak effiecieny.

2. Not far off from the above reason is the load times that can be achieved with Gentoo. A pre-linked version of KDE starts up in record time.

3. Just to see if I could do it.

But sadly I do not have the bandwidth to deal with Gentoo right now. I have experimented with putting it on a G3 tower at my girlfriend's house but as yet I still do not have a 'fat' pipe coming into my own home.

I am dl'ing the *.iso's for Mandrake at school. For the past hour or so I have been hovering between 99.7 & 99.9KB/sec and I have just broke into 103....but now it is done.

699 Mb for the first disk & there are 3.
