It had been a few months since Nino and Miku had been officially together. Even though Nino was busy with Miku by his side, there was plenty going on with the other members…
SIDE STORY 3: Puppy Love
“Sho-chan~!” Aiba moaned as he looked at the upside down Sho sitting across from him in a chair he pulled up.
Sho smiled at Aiba, who was lying upside down on the couch, as he asked, “What is it?”
“It’s just you and me now. The others have all abandoned us for those girls…” Aiba sighed before pulling himself upright on the couch.
Aiba ruffled his hair and smiled before Sho suggested, “Why don’t we go out? A walk around the park might be nice.”
Aiba agreed, so he and Sho gathered their things and headed out of the green room. The other members had left earlier because the girls had waiting for them, leaving the Sakuraiba pair alone to keep each other company. They walked out, heading to a nearby park, feeling the warm sun trying to warm their cold vampire skin. The sun didn’t bother them one bit, drained them some days, but they could easily walk around in the day.
The gravel path crunched beneath their shoes as they walked and talked together. Then Sho spotted a nearby vendor and asked if Aiba would like an ice cream because, even after they had become vampires, Aiba still loved his favorite ice cream. Sho told Aiba to wait in that spot for him while he fetched the ice cream and Aiba happily obeyed. He shifted from one foot to the other as he waited, observing the happy people walking around in the park. Just then he heard a bark and looked around eagerly for the dog who’d barked.
A beautiful golden cocker spaniel was walking his way, but Aiba was quickly distracted by the beautiful woman holding the leash. She was dressed in a white blouse and matching white loosely flowing skirt, and a white sun hat to protect her fair skin. Aiba was a bit shocked, thinking that it was too much of a cliché for this woman to look that way and walking her dog around the park. Yet, he couldn’t take his eyes off her as the dog spotted Aiba, immediately lured by his natural affinity for animals, she took off for Aiba.
“Hana!” the gentle voice called out as the dog’s leash slipped from her hand.
Aiba kneeled down as the dog ran up to him and tried to lick his face. The woman rushed over, bowing several times as she apologized and thanked Aiba for catching the dog.
“Hana has never tried to get away, she is normally quite the good dog,” the woman explained as she took the leach from Aiba’s hand.
Aiba smiled cheerfully as always as he answered, “I’m sure Hana is a wonderful dog, she probably just really likes me. I tend to have a way with animals.”
“You have a way with animals? It sure seems like it,” the woman chuckled lightly.
From one look Aiba could tell she was the typical rich family’s daughter type. She even smelled fresh and clean, her sweet perfume inviting those around her to come closer. She seemed so prim and proper, the epitome of femininity, so unlike the other girls he was used to seeing. She batted her dark eyelashes at Aiba, who was feeling quite shy as he stared at her.
Just before Aiba could ask her what her name was, Sho came running over calling out to Aiba, “Aiba-chan! Come grab the ice cream, it’s melting!”
Hana, once again, became infatuated with the vampire powers and tried to jerk her leash from her master’s grip. Hana ran around Aiba’s legs, the leash wrapping itself around his legs as he tried to get away, but it was too late. The leash pulled his legs out from under him and he tumbled to the ground, landing on the woman. Hana had gotten away and ran over to Sho as he ran over to make sure they were ok, but when he got closer he saw that Aiba was on top of her, his lips on hers.
Aiba pulled away quickly, feeling quite embarrassed as he asked, “Are you ok?”
The woman’s face was slightly flushed as Aiba helped her up. She averted her eyes from Aiba before grabbing her dog and running off. Aiba wanted to call out to her, but he didn’t even know her name.
“Aiba…the ice cream is running down my hand…” Sho told him as the ice creams dripped onto the ground.
=============
The next day the Arashi members arrived one by one to the green room, noticing that Aiba was unusually still with his head just lying on the table.
“Good morning everyone!” Sho called out as he walked in before being pulled off to the side by the others.
“What happened to Aiba-chan?” Jun asked in a hushed tone.
“Eh?” Sho said before looking over as Aiba and then answering, “Looks like he’s still depressed about yesterday.”
“What happened yesterday?” Nino asked.
“Well,” Sho started before briefly looking over at Aiba before explaining, “He accidently kissed this girl we met in the park yesterday, it was an accident, so I don’t understand what’s wrong with him.”
Ohno walked over to Aiba and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Riida~! I did a bad thing. I kissed a girl I didn’t even know…and I liked it,” Aiba groaned before hiding his face.
“What do you mean?” the others asked as they gathered around the table.
Aiba picked his head up and looked at each member before explaining, “I can’t stop thinking about her, I feel like I need to find her again, the way she looked at me…”
Aiba trailed off as he ruffled his hair roughly and let out an incomprehensible sound of frustration. Nino, Ohno, and Jun exchanged knowing looks with each other before turning their attention to Aiba, trying to get him to cheer up and forget the girl. Aiba smiled up at them and reassured them that he’d get over it, but they knew better.
They finished their filming for the day, gathering their things before heading off in their own directions. Sho asked Aiba if he wanted to go out for some drinks, but Aiba declined and said he was heading home to rest.
“Alright, just don’t do anything crazy,” Sho smiled at Aiba before heading off to his own home.
Aiba waved goodbye before heading off in the direction of the park. He told himself that there was a good chance that she wouldn’t show, but he couldn’t help himself. He found a bench and sat there, waiting and watching as the time flew by. Soon the sun would be setting and Aiba knew he would have to find a girl soon to feed upon since he hadn’t eaten all day. He figured he’d find a random woman walking in the park and lure her away to feed away from the public. Then he heard a familiar bark and looked to see Hana, the cocker spaniel, and her owner walking down the path. Aiba perked up immediately as the dog recognized him.
“What is it Hana?” her owner asked before looking in the direction and seeing Aiba sitting there.
He shyly smiled at her and waved slightly to her, but she just stood still. Aiba swallowed his nervousness before getting up and walking over to them. He prayed that she didn’t run away, he was afraid she hated him for kissing her. He walked up to her and Hana and bowed.
“I’m really sorry about yesterday, please forgive me!” Aiba apologized sincerely.
“It’s not your fault, Hana was too excited and caused it to happen,” the woman told him as she smiled at him.
Aiba lifted his head with his big charming smile on his face as he asked, “If you don’t mind me asking, I never had a chance to ask yesterday, but what is your name?”
“You may call me Yuri, I know it’s a bit informal, but I’d prefer if you call me by my first name,” Yuri answered him.
“Yuri-san? That’s such a pretty name, it really suits you,” Aiba blurted out loud before shyly chuckling.
“Thank you, and your name is?” Yuri asked.
“Well since I can call you by your first name you may call me Masaki,” Aiba answered as he tried to hide the sheer joy he was feeling at that moment.
“I will call you Masaki-san, I don’t wish to be rude, my father is quite strict about such things,” Yuri told him before asking, “So what brings you back here? Come to see me again?”
Aiba was glad his body couldn’t blush anymore for he was sure he’d have turned bright red as he answered, “To be truthful, I did come to see you again.”
Yuri’s face turned red this time as she quickly looked down at her feet. Then she looked up at Aiba, this look in her eyes that Aiba was sure would have made his heart beast faster. He felt drawn to her as he took a step closer, locking his coffee-brown eyes on her dark brown eyes, causing Yuri’s heart to beat even faster.
As Aiba leaned closer he asked, “Yuri-san, is it alright to kiss you on purpose this time?”
Yuri nodded her head as she closed her eyes and awaited his kiss. Aiba leaned in closer, their lips just centimeters apart before Hana began to bark. Aiba and Yuri turned to see a big bulky man walking their way, a clearly displeased look on his face…
